Spithead todayThe Spithead Business Centre at Lake could not be better placed to be the number one commercial destination in East Wight. Positioned between the new Aldi store and Morrisons Superstore, it is extremely well situated fronting the very prominent Newport Road. The arrival of Premier Inn and Marstons have proved to be complementary and their ongoing marketing initiatives are encouraging more people to visit the area.Spithead Business Centre has therefore quickly developed as the venue for distribution, production, DIY and household trade counter operations, as well as establishing itself within the motor trade and tourist product industries. Anchor tenants, such as Berendsen plc (laundry services), Howdens, D H Price and Severnside Ltd, have created an interesting and varied core tenant mix. It is this diversity which will help secure the estate’s long term future.
HistorySPITHEAD Business Centre was formed about 20 years ago. Before this, the buildings were used as an air conditioning factory, occupied by Temperature Ltd. The renovated centre provided much needed logistics and manufactory space for the East Wight business community, cementing its position as the most important commercial district in the area. This has been further supported by the arrival of Premier Inn, Aldi and a Marstons Family Pub, Merrie Gardens, within the immediate vicinity. In 2015, Casper Douglas Properties, bought this landmark estate with a plan in place to secure the centre’s long term future through implementing very necessary renovation and restoration works at the earliest opportunity. Casper Douglas Properties has been involved in projects on the island for the last 20 years including renovating the very highly regarded restaurant, Dan’s Kitchen in St Helens (01983 872303), which it still owns today.
